Stop, Look & Listen Records
Stop, Look & Listen Records was formed in August of 2004. Nikii Davis, singer and songwriter and recipent of 8 Billboard World Songwriting contest awards formed the independant label as an vehicle to provide an opportunity for up and coming artists to have directive control over their recording projects. The name Stop, Look & Listen came about when after months and months of searching for a name for the independant label, Nikii was travelling to her much beloved country and second home, Jamaica! One day on a journey to the Milk River Mineral Baths, Nikii with a car load of Jamaican family friends came upon a railroad crossing that simply said: "Stop, Look, Listen". Nikii shouted in glee, announcing, "that's it, that's the name of the record label, Stop, Look & Listen". The main goal for music of all genre to reach all the four corners of the world. Stop, Look & Listen Records first CD release was, "Simple Kind of Woman". Nikii penned each song and the CD was produced by world renowned and former band member of the Robert Cray Band, Peter Boe. Nikii Davis recieved 8 awards from the 14th Annual Billboard World Songwriting contest. 3 of Nikii's original song's placed in the top 500 in the world.
In June of 2007, Nikii was in Negril and was staying at the same hotel as Lincoln "Sugar" Minott. Sugar Minott had performed that evening and Nikii having never heard of Sugar Minott, was hooked on the legend's velvty voice, the passion that he sang with and the energy that ignited the stage and the audience. The next morning Nikii asked Producer Roman Pryce to break out his rhythm tracks for Sugar to hear and the CD "New Day" began.
For 11 months Roman Pryce, Nikii Davis and Sugar Minott collaborated on the project "New Day". Fianl completion in April of 2008. "New Day" is truly a blessing and not a CD that was intentionally to be released on the Stop, Look & Listen label. A joint venture by Roman Pryce, Sugar Minott and Nikii Davis, the vision is to independantly distribute "New Day" keeping in close touch with the listening audience and providing an opportunity for Sugar Minott to reach new levels around the world in the Reggae Industry and beyond. "New Day" has come full circle and
sounds like the "good ole' days of reggae". Stop, Look & Listen Records will Release "Good Friends" via the internet on July 17th, 2008 with all proceeds generated from online sales being contributed to the 2008 - December 25th event "Reggae In The Hills". Sugar Minott sponsors each year "Reggae In The Hills" at Harker's Hall in St. Catherine to help with the continual development of music education amongst the youth and continual assistance to the elderly Hurricane victims. Stop, Look & Listen Records is truly blest with this opportunity and Forever grateful.
